Team Fringe is proud to bring you an Avant-garde experience in collaboration with J.A.W and The Armory Theater. This July 27th, experience an unconventional runway painted with Portland’s most experimental fashion. We will be opening the show for J.A.W this year, an event that has been running for the past twenty years and is powered by performing art. Fringe was borne from a single spark of inspiration between two creative soulmates. Designer Sloane White and photographer Tom Lupton recognized a need for a completely inclusive fashion show in Portland. They quickly assembled a team of other creatives and from there, the spark ignited into a wildfire of ideas.
The first Fringe show last August was a sold out success at the beautiful Star Theater downtown. A group of unconventional designers showcased their stunning collections on the runway, featuring the most diverse group of models we could find to represent every aspect of our fair city.
The Fringe team has big dreams. In the future, we plan on launching our very own magazine, adhering to our mission of inclusivity by including sparkling editorial shoots with models of every size, shape, race, age and ability, to featuring in-depth interviews with other creatives in our city who share our ethics and values.
We’re also planning on creating our own foundation in order to give back even further to our community. The plans for our foundation include things like giving out grants to pay for coming-out photoshoots for transgender folks, paying studio fees for emerging photographers, or teaching low-cost workshops of all kinds to share our creative knowledge.
